IN the Okehampton and district Table Tennis League division one Academy played Bridestowe.

Tom Pengelly scored a fine maximum to help Academy to a 6-4 win in the first game. Ben Hill, having lost the first two legs against Francis Griffiths, fought back to win the next three to put Academy 1-0 up. Tom Pearce beat Mark Fogerty to make it 2-0 and it became 3-0 when Tom Pengelly beat Phil Down.

Griffiths and Down pulled two back for Bridestowe while Down won the next against Tom Pearce and Mark Fogerty won the last singles against Ben Hill.

Tom Pengelly and Ben Hill won the doubles in five legs against Francis Griffiths and Phil Down for a 6-4 win for Academy.

The Mixtures lost 10-0 at home to Academy. However, Sarah Jackson took Ben Hill to five legs, just losing out 11-8; she also lost out to Tom Pengelly 12-10 in the fifth leg.

Milton Abbot beat Academy 6-4. Ottilia Pochat scored a fine maximum for Milton Abbot ably supported by Tim Westcott. Ottilia and Tim won their doubles against Tom Pearce and Tom Pengelly in four legs for a fine team victory.

In division two North Wkye were at home to Anchorage B in a hard fought and competitive match.

Tom Misselbrook put North Wyke 1-0 ahead against David Wilson who was off form on the night. Roger Gilbert won the next against Stewart Granger to level before North Wyke stepped up a gear winning the next seven singles to lead 8-1. Wilson and Gilbert won the doubles against Misselbrook and Steve in four legs for 8-2 to North Wyke. Jenny Gilbert did well to take Enrique to a fifth leg decider, just losing out 11-5 in the fifth. Roger Gilbert also took Enrique to five legs, just losing out 12-10 in the fifth leg.

Also in division two Anchorage B were at home to Moretonhampstead.

David Wilson won the first against Ken Underhill and went on to score a fine maximum ably supported by Jenny and Roger Gilbert for a 8-2 win. Ken won the two for Moreton in a most enjoyable game for all.
