TWELVE Tavistock Athletic Club members took part in stage four of the 2013 Grand Prix competition that took place at Saltram Park, Plymouth.

The event, held in bitter conditions was the first of Armada Athletic's summer 5K Series

Jason Shipton was the first TAC in a gold club award time of 21 minutes 14 seconds and moves up to 14th place in the 2013 Grand Prix competition. Eight seconds behind Jason was Allan Herdman who achieved a ruby standard time and is now 11th place overall.

Peter Bazley finished in a gold award time of 22.53 - third place overall in the grand prix.

Jason's son, Charlie, aged 14, ran well to finish in a new course personal best time of 23.45 — equating to a bronze award time at senior level,

Roger Hewitt, preparing for the London Marathon, wasr just six seconds behind Charlie.

Tony Shearer completed the distance in a gold award time of 24.17, his fourth distance gold this year. His double race points after playing his 'joker' also mean that Tony is now the new 2013 Grand Prix competition leader.

Graham De Val achieved a silver award time this year by finishing a few seconds behind Tony while Hazel Walker earned a bronze award with 26.56. John Windemer also had a bronze time of 27.47 is now in overall fourth place.

In the women's competition, Christine Le Flem ran superbly to achieve a ruby award with 27.54. Christine also achieved the best TAC age-graded performance of the evening.

Jennifer Sabine, aged 14, completed her race just seconds behind Christine while Caron De Val completing her race in just over 30 minutes.
