THREE teenaged Tavistock triathletes took the top three places at the 'Freak Events' Roadford Triathlon — an event for adults — last weekend.

Emily Attfield, 13, (Team Certini), Pete Jarman, 15, (Plymouth Triathlon Club) and Jordan Channon, 14, (Kelly College), had an amazing day's competition. Jordan had the fastest swim and was first out of the 400 metre open water lake swim, closely followed by Pete and then Emily. Following an excellent transition they took to the bikes on the undulating 10 kilometre course. Pete had the fastest bike leg, and was just ahead of Jordan coming into transition two before the run. Emily was in fifth off the bike overall but was first placed female.

During the three kilometre run the positions changed with Jordan taking first overall in 37 minutes, Pete coming a very close second (37minutes 20 seconds) and Emily having overtaken the two men in third and fourth places came overall third and first female (41 minutes and 22 seconds).
