ON Saturday Tavistock based South West Kickboxing Academy and Goju Ryu Jujitsu Kenkyukai clubs were visited by Rosi Sexton.
Rosi, from France, is a former fly weight cage warriors champion and former fly weight Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter and osteopath. Rosi’s martial arts background includes tae wando, jujitsu, and Brazilian jujitsu.
SWKA head coach fourth dan Steve Lilley met Rosi at a seminar up in the Midlands and brought Rosi down to deliver a martials arts seminar and some work on injury prevention in the sport.
Goju Ryu Jujitsu Kenkyukai sensi Umberto also helped raise the profile with his students.
Steve said: ‘Rosi focused on grappling and returning to your feet during the session, along with injury prevention work in warm ups and a question and answer session on martial art in both self-defence and martial arts sport.
‘All students who attended loved the session and are looking forward to a possible future date later in the year.
‘Both Steve and Umberto would like to thank Drake Judo club from Tavistock for the use of their mats at the session held at Tavistock Community Sports Centre.’
