Teign 0

THIS was the most anticipated game of the season for far for Tavistock's first team, as players prepared for a top of the table clash with Teign HC.

Both teams had experienced high levels of success during their previous fixtures but this match was dubbed to be quite a different encounter.

The game started well for Teign and Tavistock were caught napping during the early stages of the game drawing a couple of good saves from Matt the Tavistock goalkeeper. Tavistock then grew into the game playing some fine counter-attacking hockey.

Tavistock also came close to breaking the deadlock through a great passing move between star summer signings Fenwick and Honey only for the keeper to pull off a fine save.

The second half was played at much of the same intensity; Tavistock continued to play fast counter attacking hockey — however with no end product. Teign also played some fine possession hockey but the Tavistock defence held firm and all chances were quashed by good discipline at the back.

The game ended as a goalless draw, a result that Tavistock could still be proud of and one that keeps them in the race for promotion.
