Petrol two
Dart ladies thirds 0
Okehampton ladies seconds 4
WANTING to hold their position of second place in the league Okehampton were looking for an away win.
The visitors dominated the match and five minutes into the game Oke's Viv Weatherington made a swift pass to Alex Collins just outside the circle who then quickly dodged around the Dart defence to strike the ball into goal and give the visitors the lead.
Solid defending from Oke halves Sophia Marshall, Louise Weller and Anna Speak allowed them to feed the ball back to the forwards and many more attempts at goal were made, but the Dart goalkeeper was always swift to come out and block any further shots. The score remained 1-0 at half time.
The second half saw Viv Weatherington cross the edge of the circle and slice the ball into the back of the net. By now, Okehampton's game began to flow well, with Weatherington again striking a hard ball into the circle where Alex Collins clipped the passing ball with her stick diverting it round the Dart goal keeper.
Accurate passing among the Oke players with good use of the wings challenged the opposition. Emma Wiseman continued to show enthusiasm down the right wing and after many long runs her moment to strike at goal was seized with the ball deflecting off one of the Dart defender's stick before crossing the goal line.
The fast pace remained throughout the rest of the match, with the Okehampton defence of Rochelle Woollacott, Debbie Pritchard and Nicky Pedrick always alert to a Dart break out.
Oke goalkeeper Alice Wiseman and sweeper Sandy Douglas worked well together to ensure that all shots on goal were quickly cleared back to midfield.
The game ended for Oke's third match in a row with a penalty corner but the unwavering Dart defence ensured that the closing score remained a 4-0 win to the visitors.
