TAVI Hire started slowly when keeper Shaun Moloney was lobbed from 20 yards out to give University an early lead. This spurred Tavi Hire on and for the rest of the half they dominated possession and missed a glut of chances with Des Newton being the main culprit. However it was Newton who made the breakthrough on 35 minutes when he cut in from the right to fire low past the keeper.

On 43 minutes Newton was through on goal when taken down in the area but Dave Wilkinson tamely shot straight at the keeper.

The second half started strongly for Tavi Hire and deservedly took the lead when Newton got his second after being put through after a good ball by Mark Norman. Will Pike finished the game off with a good strike from eight yards.

University piled on the pressure to try and get back into the game but the defence, well marshalled by John Francis held out to record their third straight win of the season.
