Plym Valley 1
WITH Okehampton travelling to Plymouth for their last league game of the year, the team spirit was high.
This radiated through in the opening minutes of the first half when Oke found themselves on the attack, but was soon cut short by the Plym Valley defence.
Oke soon had another attack on goal and were awarded a short corner. A swift injection from Winnie Rademaker found Jo Moppett at the top of the D, Moppett aimed for the far corner but was unsuccessful.
Plym soon found an opening in the Oke defence and slotted the ball into the back of the goal to make it 1-0. Both teams came back from half time with determination to score the next goal. Plym were the first team to be under attack from Kim Davey and Hannah Whitely out on the wings and support from Tara Davidson and Winnie in the middle.
The home side soon found the stride as the play kept being pushed towards the Oke defence. Tackles from Lesley Bingham and Carol Taylor soon saw the threat decrease. This did not last for long as Okehampton defence, made up of Nicola Stoneman, Anna Cherrington, Katie Adams and Taylor.
The pressure the home side placed on the away defence soon paid off when they were awarded a number of short corners, which the away side soon saw out of their D.
Player of the match was Jane Jones.
The home side soon had another chance on goal but Oke keeper Shannon Osman saw the ball sent up to the other end.
n Matches start again on January 18 with a trip to Tiverton the play White eagles.
