DARTMOOR Cycles' downhill mountain bike race team were in action at the weekend at the first round of the Woodland Riders winter series at Tavistock woodlands.

The lure of racing had brought in a packed field of 130 racers including national champions and pro riders.

Although it was a cool, dry day conditions for the riders taking on the fast and technical track were incredibly slippery. In practice many riders had difficulty getting from top to bottom without at least one tumble, however all remounted and carried on without injury.

Andy Boyle was the first of the team to set a time, placing him in third in the highly competitive Masters category.

Jon Credicott then had great run to place fourth in the huge seniors category. Finally Harry Steer dominated the Elite racers with a superb first place and fastest time of the day against some very tough competition.

The Woodland riders winter series runs throught the winter at Tavistock woodlands. The next round is Sunday, February 23, 2014.
