Conference C

Tavistock 0

TAVISTOCK hockey men’s first team impressive league run which had seen them win their last 25 consecutive games came to an end on Saturday when the students scored from a penalty corner with less than two minutes remaining.

Both teams went into the game as the only teams in Conference South with three wins from their first three games and the quality of hockey did not disappoint.  It looked like both teams would take a share of the points but with the clock running down a hopeful ball into the D found the foot of one of the Tavistock defenders; a cleverly worked routine allowed the students to deflect the ball in to the goal and grab all three points.

From the restart Tavistock threw all they could at the students and won themselves a penalty corner; however, the Reds were not able to convert and despite another impressive performance left Exeter with no points.

Tavistock were not as clinical in front of goal as many have come to expect and against a quality Exter University side the chances were few and far between.
