In their first game versus Exmouth there were ideal conditions for fast clean rugby. Tavistock broke through in the first minute, before Exmouth had even touched the ball. Fen Eastaugh gathered the ball from the kick off, shook off the first tackle and was brought to ground on the Exmouth 10 metre line. The ball picked from the ruck by scrum half Lily Hillson was passed immediately to fly-half Annabel Longden who scorched to the line. This set the general plan for the match. Hannah Morris and Maddie Cinnamond securing good ball in the forwards and spinning it out to the backs where Lauren Dawe, Bronwyn Rundle and Annabel Longden made space to slip through the defensive line and to score. They scored six tries with Annabel converting two.
In a second game, the strong players of the Tavistock team were balanced between the sides to make the game more competitive.
The final score was 22-15, with all the tries, excepting one, scored by Tavistock players.
These were exciting games to watch with fast flowing movement of the ball and solid defences.
These performances need to be repeated against Exeter or Devonport when Tavistock meet either of them next.
