SIX swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club competed in the higher levels of competition by competing in the Aquae Sulis Grand Prix level one long course swimming gala.

It was the first time that Tavistock Swimming Club members took part in this meet which took place at the Hengrove Leisure Centre in Bristol.

The event was a great experience for the swimmers to push themselves against other swimmers at this higher level of competition.

In the 22 events entered, 17 personal best times were recorded on their entry times and five top 10 finishes were achieved.

James Anderson and Beth Thompson, competing in four events each, Jessamy Clemens in five and Luke Stephens competing in two — achieving personal best times in all their events, with the majority of them by over a second.

Cameron McGurk in five events earned two excellent personal bests in the 50m butterfly and the 100m freestyle. Kieran Rookes, in two events, achieved top 10 finishes in both of his events including a fourth place in the 50m breaststroke.

James, Luke and Beth also gained a top 10 finish from the heat declared event.

The club congratulated its members for their superb swims.
