SEVEN swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club took part in the Devon Development Gala, which took place at the Life Centre in Plymouth. They competed in 38 events and gained 33 top five finishes with 32 personal best times.

James Anderson and Harry Thompson competed in the boys' 14 year-old age group and produced very good results. James came first in the 200m butterfly, second in the 200m backstroke, 1500m freestyle and the 50m medley skins as well as two third place finishes.

Harry produced consistent results with second places in the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle events and third places in the 100m IM and 100m backstroke.

In the 14 year old girls' age group, Chloe Marks achieved top three placings in all of her events, which included two first places in the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle events.

Competing in the 12 year-old boy's age group were Jake France and Luke Stephens. Jake gained some good personal best times as did Luke, who also won the 200m butterfly and was second in the 100m breaststroke.

Bethany Thompson swam in the girls 11 year-old age group and came first in the 100m freestyle, with top five finishes in all her other events.

Emily France, aged 9, competing in her first Development gala, produced a good swim in the 200m freestyle in her age group.

In the overall Bagcats awards – the awards given to the top six overall swimmers in each age-group Bethany was second, James third, Chloe fifth and Luke fifth in their respective age groups.
