EIGHT swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club have been competing over the last three weekends at the South West Regional Swimming Championships.  

Joel Lake, Cara McVeigh, Samuel Rice, Alfie Morgan, Nathaniel Rookes, Hannah Walker, Charlotte Walker and Ruby Montgomery all worked extremely hard over the previous few months to gain the necessary qualification times in their events.  

While the senior swimmers stayed locally competing at Plymouths Life Centre, the juniors travelled as far afield as Bristol and Somerset to take part in their first competition at this level.

Head coach James Lake was poolside for each race: ‘I’m proud of my guys.  For many, being their first regional level competition, they rose to this high level showing no fear.  Achieving impressive times and greatly improving on their final positions – amazing!  They are now inspiring more youngsters to follow in their footsteps.’
