TAVISTOCK came up against league leader and hot favourites Torquay on Saturday not helped by missing several senior players.

Torquay are including several of their last season premier players as well as an overseas player. They batted first and steady scores insured they reached a challenging total.

Tim Western, Neal Osborn and Joe Crooks all compiled good scores while for Tavistock Mark Hopkins was the pick of the bowlers with 3-31 in his nine overs. Danny Goldstone, James White and Sam Willetts all managed one wicket.

Tavistock's reply was very disappointing apart from Phil Bees, who batted throughout the innings for 28 not out, nobody else reached double figures. Torquay had a very strong bowling line up — Ian Baker was the pick with an impressive 6-24 in six overs.

This was a game quickly forgotten; for Tavistock an all out score of 89 was not good enough and Torquay were left as easy victors.
