Bournemouth girls U15s 17 Tavistock U15s girls 34 Bournemouth U18s girls 22 Tavistock U18s girls 32 ON tour the Tavistock girls rugby teams met Bournemouth Oakmedians on Sunday morning. The U15s were first onto the muddy pitch and were soon behind when the Oakmedians' prop went straight through the defensive line to score under the posts. The visitors pulled themselves together with six great tries from Lauren Abel, Lizzie Cole (2), Alice Mills-Hicks (2) and Tilly Cole who converted two. The Tavistock U18s followed with their Lauren Dawe, Thea Crosby and Flo Rodgers always probing and making good breaks but the forwards were losing some loose ball to the powerful Oakmedians forwards. By half time the score was 12-12 each, with the home side struggling with fitness. In the second half it was all one way with Tavistock scoring four tries to Oakmedians two. It was Tavistock's speed and handling which won them the game. The best try started on the Tavistock 22 when Jess Tait gathered from the base of the ruck passing out first to the left through four pairs of hands. An offload now out along the line to the right to Hannah Morris to race down the wing to score out wide. Tavistock scored six tries from Lizzie Crocker (2), Annabel Longden (2) and Bronwyn Rundle and Hannah. It was a very enjoyable tour, but could not have been carried out without the help of mums, Kate Mills, Allison Morris and Kerry Walke, who also organised the fun and games on the coach. The tour marks the end of the regular matches after a highly successful season.
