Conference South
Tavistock men firsts 1
Firebrands 2
WITH points being the number one priority for Tavistock men’s first XI in their quest to retain their spot in Conference South division.
The game started evenly with both sides battling for possession in the midfield; however, neither side were able to create clear cut chances in the final third of the pitch. It was Tavistock who made the break through with some clever link up play between Stanbury junior and Honey, teeing up Mark Foreshaw to rifle in a shot on his back hand to put the home side into the lead as they moved into the half-time break.
The second half saw much of the same with both sides sharing good spells of possession, it was the Firebrands from Bristol, however, who capitalised upon a lapse in concentration in defence and swept the ball past captain Bond.
With the match finely balanced the referee, much to the home side’ frustration, awarded a penalty corner to Firebrands, which they again punished Tavistock with to gain the advantage.
Some late pressure from the Tavistock front line was not enough and the three points went to the visitors.
