NINE swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club competed in the ASA South West Summer Champion-ships, which took place at the Plymouth Life Centre earlier this month.

They competed in 21 events and achieved 20 personal best times, one championship final and one club record.

James Anderson achieved the club record in the 100m butterfly and he also reached the championship final for the 200m butterfly where he came a superb seventh in the South West. Four members – Hannah Chitty, Amber Francis, Sarah Teague and Lloyd Underwood – were competing at the regional level for the first time, having gained their entry times at the Devon County Championship earlier in the year. They all swam superbly to achieve personal best times in all their events.

Also competing in the championships were Jake France, Alex Francis and Cameron McGurk who achieved personal best times in all their events.

Head coach James Lake said: ‘We had more qualifiers than previous years and a greater number of events for which they had qualified. Well done guys, and let’s keep raising TSC standards!

‘We are looking forward to seeing other club members of at this level.’
