Caradon 1

Tavistock 3

TAVISTOCK travelled to Liskeard to face Caradon with high hopes of maintaining the unbeaten run this year. With a refreshed squad, and some new players, the team confidence is running high.

Captain on the day Wood set a balanced side from the off. Ollie Richards working hard chasing down the Caradon defence with new comers Pete Hutchings, Frasier Bayliss and Henry Chamberlain all exceeding expectation and showing maturity in their play.

Caradon found themselves under almost constant pressure with the flowing and controlled game Tavistock was assembling.

Brothers Dom and Sam Stanbury putting such good work in throughout, penetrating through the midfield, the Caradon defensive line held as their 25 meter area became more crowded.

The breakthrough came with substitute and new signing Simon Fenwick, displaying super stick skills weaving thought the Caradon players to strike home for the visitors.

Into the break all seemed to be going well and only the fine performance of the Caradon goal keeper keeping hope alive for the home side.

The Tavistock defensive line of Marchant, Passmore Wood and Carr rarely troubled leaving newly signed keeper Matt Grahame little to do.

The second half saw Caradon advance and winning a short corner from one of the few forays deep into Tavistock territory. The corner was struck well and keeper Grahame could do nothing as it took two deflections.

Tavistock kept up the flowing style and quick counter, retrieving the lead through Bayliss following some super one touch passing, and deep into the second half Tavistock converted a short corner of their own, through Fenwick, deciding the final result.

Overall a fine display of controlled hockey with pace and in the sunshine too. Andy Berry was Tavistock's man of the match.

n This week Tavistock entertain Camborne School of Mines at 3pm, Kelly College.
