IT was a scrappy first half, with neither side able to produce any flowing rugby.

The robust Torquay forwards proved a handful but the home pack gradually wore them down. Tavistock prop Joe Hair earned a ten minute rest in the sin bin for an over enthusiastic entry into a maul.

Tries from centre Nick Lane, flanker Joe Pook and wing Adam Williams gave the home side a 17-14 lead at half time.

There was a fine performance from Tavistock in the second half, which saw them run in a further six tries, with the forwards producing some good ball and the backs stretching the Torquay defence. Skipper Joe Pook and Adam Williams both scored two more tries to complete their hat-tricks and centre Ben Coles and number eight Phil Jakes also dotted down.

Nick Lane booted six conversions, to complete what was in the end, a comprehensive victory.
