THE annual battle of the sexes at Tavistock Golf Club for the Callard Cup is a competitive event. 

The cup, presented by past captains Paul and Frances Callard, was last won by the ladies in 2000 but it was a close call this year with the men winning five and a half to four and a half.   

The Rickard Bowl, for players who won medals and Stablefords in the preceding year, was played in conjunction with the monthly medal. 

In division one Wendy George had a nett 70, second Shirley Trevena with a nett 77 on countback from Kayleigh Cann and Gilly Jarvis.  Ailson West was first in division two with a nett 68; second Sam Avens nett 74 and third was Val White with nett 76.  Winner of the Bowl was Sam Avens and runner up was Shirley Trevena.

In the men's Par and Kelly Bowls, a bogey competition, Jas Singh in division two won with a +6.  In division one Mark Ingram had -1, second Dave Symons -1 and Will Stenhouse a -2.  Second in division two was Keith Stenhouse with +4 and third Barry Milligan +3. 

In the Fullers London Pride qualifying medal Nick Mier was first in division one with nett 68, second Alan Gawman nett 69 and third was Phil Eastham with nett 70. In division two Alan Goble had a nett 70, second Tony Cooper nett 71 and third with nett 72 was John Hayward. In division three with a superb score of nett 66 was Richard Burrows, second John Williams nett 69, third Tony Rawlinson nett 70.  Richard will go on to play in the next round.

In the juniors, Hawkins Vase Will Stenhouse had a nett 68 to win the Vase with Kieran Alder in second place with nett 76 and third Mike Henderson nett 74.
