THE top three places for Tavistock Golf Ladies' three ball better ball open went to the home teams with Carolyn Crawford, Sally Hills and Teresa Hughes first with 78 points. In second place, close behind with 77pts, were Nicky Gawman, Gilly Jarvis and Bev Ruth and in third place, Marion Stenhouse, Shirley Trevena and Pat Wylie with 73pts. Nearest the pin on the seventh was Linda Blundell (Honiton and nearest the pin in two on the 14th was Chris Hussey (Holsworthy). In the men's John Morris Medal scoring was close in division one but Tom Dodd beat Dennis Walker on count back to take first place with a nett 68. John Hirst took third place with nett 69 on count back from David Johns and David Axell. First in division two was Lee Bartlett with nett 72; second was Steve Fowler with nett 73 on count back from Andy Down. Nett 69 was the top score in division three with Keith Lethbridge taking the honours on count back from Mike Watkin; in third place was Jason Allen with nett 71. In the lady veterans' four ball better ball Knowle competition Carolyn Crawford and Pat Wylie won the Trophy with 46pts. Runners up were Roma McMahon and Barbara Porter on 43pts.
