Tavistock ladies firsts 4

Exeter University 0

THE hockey match started with great determination from the home side and some fluid passing from the back line of Langsford, Evans, Patterson and Pollack.

Despite early pressure from Exeter University, Tavistock were first to score following an attacking move from Lamb, who passed to Armstrong who laid the ball off to Fenwick to converted with a powerful shot. Shortly after this captain Armstrong went down with an injured back and Tavistock had to play on with 10 players as they were without substitutions. Despite this the away side were unable to capitalize on the overlap and keeper Viggers made some superb diving saves. Tavistock made it 2-0 after the return of the injured Armstrong who passed square pass to Fennwick who cooly finished.

The second half brought more pressure and attacks from the university side but Tavistock worked closely as a team to keep them out. Langsford for Tavistock made a good ball out to Lamb, who laid off to Armstrong to finish to make it 3-0 before the home side ended on a high to make it a convincing 4-0 victory.
