AFTER their first win of the new hockey season last week the ladies were ready to hit the pitch again and fight for number two, and what a fight they gave.

The ladies travelled down to Falmouth to face a strong opposition who were new to the league this year, following relegation from Premier two last season.

The game started well with Tavistock hitting the home side with great intensity and applying immediate pressure on the Falmouth defence.

With the excellent work of forwards Gaspar, Lamb junior and senior it was surprising that the ladies did not pick up the goal they needed to put themselves in front.

Tavistock went into half time at 0-0 and were still in a great position to get something from this game. Unfortunately it was not their day, Falmouth upped their game in the second half and saw two quick breaks and took the final score to a 2-0 defeat for Tavistock.

Tavistock may have come away with a loss but showed true team spirit, grit and determination.
