TAMARA Hicks scored the opening goal for TT3 after a great passage of play, following an interception from Tracey Coupland. Robyn Hammond defended Beacons’ centre pass but the attack were unable to get the ball to the shooting circle.
Beacons scored two in a row before Siobhan Rescorla levelled the game at 2-2. Beacons then continued in full power to take the first quarter 9-2.
A few changes for Tavistock team TT3, with Hannah Cole at centre feeding accurate passes to Rescorla and Hicks; Cole combined well with Charlotte Hill at WA, who defended superbly in all areas of the court. Excellent defence from Sky May-Greta from a of Beacons’ back line pass started the best passage of play. getting the ball quickly down court to Rescorla who converted.
Hicks worked tirelessly and put pressure on her defender to intercept. Lisa Chamberlain marked well in defence to distract the Beacons’ pass which was picked up by Sarah Daymond. Jade Coupland made two great intercepts when Beacons passed into there shooters.
Hicks held onto two missed shots by Tavistock player of the match Rescorla and successfully found the net o make it 15-7 to Beacons.
TT3 scored first from there centre pass with a good section of passing between Hammond, Hill, Hicks to Rescorla who converted. Rescorla scored again pulling TT3 closer. Daymond marked the Beacons’ shooters tighter. Coupland Junior for TT3, along with Daymond, picked up many loose balls.
Good pressure from Hill with her arms over the ball won the intercept fed to Hicks who scored. Hicks won a throw up and played a lovely one two with Hill to receive on the run under post to score to make it 22-12.
In the final quarter TT3 were pumped up May and Daymond were outstanding in defence. Another excellent bit of defending when Beacons got a penalty TT3 turned over the ball with Cole passing into Rescorla who scored again. Rescorla and Hicks were working well in the circle and won the final quarter 5-2 but lost the match.
