TCFC Ladies 4
Morley Rangers 0
SUNDAY saw Tavistock Community FC ladies back in league action against Morley Rangers who they had defeated the previous week in the Devon Cup.
The game started slowly with neither team finding their feet. Not long into the game, Becky Gordon passed in across for Sarah Martin to stab home at the far post.
This put a spring in Tavistock's step and the goal was soon followed by another. This was from Becky Gordon after some wing play on the right between Donna Hone and Lauren Schuttkacker with the latter crossing in an accurate low ball for Gordon to coolly shoot home.
Another goal followed from a Robyn Hammond corner to put Tavistock 3-0 ahead.
Just before half time, Hammond had a shot which was deflected by a Morley defender which fell to Gemma Small on the left hand side of the box, who then calmly curled an amazing shot into the roof of the net to make it 4-0 at half time.
In the second half, Anja Specht made her debut and came close to getting her first goal.
Small almost got her second but just missed by a narrow margin.
Tavistock's defence of Laura Phillip, Carleigh Bammens, Chelsea Starbuck and Lauren Schuttkacker had to be on their toes to thwart their attackers.
Tania Coker, who had gone into a striker's role, worked hard to keep the ball up field and keep the pressure off the defence.
The game finished 4-0 and Tavistock remain with a 100% record in the league this season.
Player of the match Robyn Hammond.
