YELVERTON Golf Club members enjoyed a perfect day for the start of a new mixed completion.

Their new trophy named 'The Two Captains Challenge Trophy' was to be played for by the captain's team and the ladies captain's team.

Club captains' Dave Smith and Glenda Thompson were the instigators of this new mixed challenge which will be played for every year at the beginning of October.

The competition was to be match play with men teeing off from the white tees and the stroke index from the ladies card.

Some junior golfers were recruited to join the fun. Adam Hyslop played for the captain and Meg Rossouw and Kira Penaluna for the ladies' captain.

The result was a win for the ladies of three and a half to one and a half. Everyone agreed it had been a fun day as well as a fiercely fought contest.
