THE lead up to the Christmas season at Tavistock Golf Club always starts with Bottle Trot.
The ladies was a three ball better ball and, because of the uncertain weather, was played over 12 holes.
First was the team of Wendy George, Alison West and Liz Lyndon with 56 points on countback from Sally Hills, Jane Hosking and Carolyn Crawford. In third place was Kate Harding, Jayne Wright and Gilly Jarvis with 52 pts on countback from Peggy Burge, June Kendall and Sue Stewart. More than 90 players took part in the men's Bottletrot which was played as an individual Stableford.
The top six in all three divisions won bottles but first in in divison one was Adam Bridgewater with 39pts, Mike James was first in division two with an excellent 43pts and Keith Bridle was top in division three with 38pts.
The men's veterans section also had a successful turnout for their Bottletrot.
Played as an individual Stableford Brian Goble topped division one with 40pts, second David Johns 39 pts, third David Carter 37 pts and fourth Rama Nand-Lal 36 pts. Scoring was tight in division two but Colin Wylie won the day with 38pts on countback from Les Tocher and Danvers Hough and in fourth place Tony Loosmore with 37 pts.
