Devon B Barnstaple and Pilton firsts v Tavistock firsts TAVISTOCK visited Barnstaple last Saturday, a team that inflicted a heavy defeat on them last year at the same ground. Barnstaple batted first and were soon in trouble. Leebalcer removed Popham and danger man McEndo in a spell of 2-16 in nine overs. Jamie Stephens then took over and continued to suffocate the Barnstaple batting. Wickets continued to fall with no Barnstaple batsman passing 18, extras making up the highest score of 25. Shawn Daymond and Sean Clarke then ripped through the remaining batsmen. Without the banned Aaron Churchill, Shawn Daymond promoted himself to open with Ian Gray. Positive thinking ensured a quick start. Gray departed but this brought in Rhys Davies, home for the weekend from playing for the MCC academy at number three, and he quickly punished the bowling, scoring 37 before departing just before the score had been reached. Shawn Daymon batted though for a well made 33 not out. Tavistock are now 33 points ahead of the third placed team.
