Torquay Athletic 24
TAVISTOCK had to fight back from 17-0 as it was the visitors who took the early advantage.
Torquay posted tries from Matt Williamson and Jimmy Hill, with the extra points converted by Alex Jeffrey, who also kicked a penalty.
But the home side were not to be outgunned, even facing a larger pack.
Two tries by Lewis Edwards and two conversions and a penalty, courtesy of the boot of Richard West brought the match back to level pegging by half-time.
After the interval it was Tavistock on the ascendancy when Mark Friend grounded a try for the home side, which was not converted by West; however, the kicker soon made amends with a penalty to increase the lead.
Tavistock paid the penalty for repeated infringements when the referee awarded the visitors a penalty try; however, back came Tavistock and late in the game Andy Schuttkacker scored the winning try, with West adding the conversion for good measure.
