First started 13 years ago by Sue Pearman of Teign Valley, the match has always been highly competitive and this year was no exception with very close scoring.
There were just 13pts separating Tavistock's winning score of 208 from fifth place Teign Valley.
The club had another successful day when the captain's charity day competition, always a popular event, was played in excellent golfing conditions. Club captain Richard Burrows expressed his delight when, at the end of the day, he announced that the sum raised was £6,203. Richard said: 'Once again, club members have shown their generosity. I am very grateful to all those who have helped to raise this money for my two chosen charities Devon Air Ambulance and the Tavistock Triangle Centre.'
First prize winners were the father and son duo of Chris and Mike Henderson with 48 pts, second Rob Staniland and Dave Symons 46 pts, third Vic Eastwood and Chris Laight 45 pts, fourth Paul Whitby and Graham Norton 44 pts on countback from James and Andrew Macfarlane.
The best ladies pair were Lyn Swift and Bev Ruth with 43 pts, the best mixed pair of George and Nicky Gawman had 43 pts on countback from John and Norma Thewlis. Ladies nearest the pin - Bev Ruth; Ladies longest drive - Nicky Gawman ; Mens nearest the pin - Mark Taylor; Mens longest drive - Mark Ingram. Nearest the pin on the 1st - Geoff Shepherd; Nearest the pin on the 18th - Barry Milligan. Monty Congdon won the beat the pro on the 7th and the shot of the day was awarded to Lester Francis.
In the ladies monthly stableford Ruth Myott in division one had 33 pts, second Wendy George 32 pts on countback from Patty Congo. In division two Margot Angel scored 36 pts, second Jane Hosking 34 pts and third was Lyn Swift with 33 pts. First in division three was Joy Harrison with 38pts, second Pat Pope 36 pts, third was Kath Fletcher with 31 pts.
In the men vets Ken Kendall trophy competition Mike Brown came in with the winning score of nett 67 on countback from Rich Harrison with Will Spearing in third place with a nett 73.
