Southern two

OPM 1

TAVISTOCK A were looking for a good performance, having their full squad available for the first time in many weeks.

The opposition turned up looking to conclude the season with a win and were motivated from the start.

The game was an even contest with both sides playing attacking hockey but it was the home side that broke the deadlock, with a fine run by Walker senior who created an easy tap in for Cunningham.

The game ebbed and flowed both ways with opportunities arising for both sides but it was the visiting Old Plymouth Mannameadians that levelled the score with a clinical reverse stick finish.

The second half started with the same commitment with both keepers busy and keeping their sides in the game.

With emotions running high and the visitors beginning to lose their self control, further scoring opportunities were coming thick and fast for Tavistock. OPMs did have the ball in the net but were adjudged to have offended with the ball not travelling far enough.

Tavistock were showing more composure and finally slotted the winner with another good break and an easy score again for Cunningham .

This was a good competitive performance by Tavistock, who showed that if they could have had a more consistent availability, their league position could have been much better.
