Truro 6

TRURO took control from the start, making long, accurate passes, and took the lead with a penalty corner in the ninth minute. Six minutes later they skilfully deflected the ball into the D and past Tavistock goalkeeper Fletcher before he could see it.

Another Truro strike lifted high into the top corner for a 3-0 half-time lead. Tavistock had made chances on the break but failed to convert three penalty corners.

Truro re-started with a fourth goal, but suddenly, Tavistock came to life. Will Jones received a pass in the Truro D and cracked the ball in to open Tavistock’s account.

Truro were on form however, and scored twice more in quick succession, creating a 6-1 lead, but Tavistock were now building momentum.

Jake Walker made a solo run from midfield to the Truro D and finished in style, and four minutes later Dave Thomas smashed a penalty corner at the keeper, driving the rebound into the net.

At 6-3 Tavistock were playing as well as Truro. That was the final score, but Tavistock came away having drawn the second half of the match and evolved into arguably the stronger side.

Tavistock man of the match was Isaac Staig who consistently challenged hard and passed superbly. Dom Walker created several opportunities with determined short runs and selfless passing.

The second half showcased what Tavistock A can do, and how they will hopefully play from now on, holding shape, going around players with fast passing and scoring from penalty corners.
