PGSOB C 1

TAVISTOCK men's hockey A team finished their season with an impressive win over Plymouth rivals Plympton Grammar School Old Boys' C on Saturday.

This victory saw them end the season in second place in the league, amassing a creditable 40 points from their 18 matches.

The game began with PGSOBs putting the home side under pressure, which Tavistock countered with a breakaway goal through the pace of Luke Daniels. Further visiting pressure was rewarded with a goal, much to the frustration of home keeper Neil Bradley as this was only the third goal conceded by Tavistock at home all season.

From this point Tavistock began to dominate the game, creating several chances and increasing their lead through a second goal from man of the match Daniels.

The speed and fitness of the younger Tavistock players became obvious as the game progressed and they opened a two goal cushion with a superb strike from open play by Jake Doney.

There was still time for Daniels to add two further goals, giving him four for the match, to help Tavistock finish the season with a well-deserved 5-1 victory.

This week Tavistock men's first and thirds both finish their season playing home games at the Kelly College pitch.
