FOLLOWING in the wake of the superb success of Team GB at the London Olympics, Tamar and Tavy Gig Rowing Club are running four week 'Learn to Row' courses.

The Weir Quay based club are responding to enquiries after the excitement of seeing Team GB do so well at the games and gold medal successes like Cornish rower Helen Glover.

Tricia Stewart, coach and chairman of Tamar and Tavy Gig Club, said: 'The Learn to Row courses are designed specifically for beginners and those who are interested in taking part in one of the South West's fastest growing sports.

'We are currently training a further two coaches to meet the growing need and whilet we may not have the sleek, fine boats used by our British Rowing colleagues in London 2012 we do have three beautiful gig boats – two of which are built to the traditional Cornish designs - 32ft long with a 4ft 10in beam, made of elm.

The next Learn to Row Course will start in September and cost £20 for four sessions.'
