MARTIALS arts in West Devon received a boost with the launch of ITF Taekwon Do classes at Tavistock Town Hall.

Ten younger children and 12 older children and adults have already started training on a regular basis at the classes, held on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Instructor Chris Wood, a fifth degree black belt with more than 35 years' teaching experience, said: 'We're delighted to be running these new classes in Tavistock and hope to introduce more people to the benefits of Taekwon Do. This particular martial art is an effective method for both physical and mental self-development.'

Paid-up students of Taekwan Do can move freely between different classes and schools to train and the new Tavistock class offers increased training opportunities for students from across the region.
