EIGHT members of Tavistock Athletic Club entered the Bere Pen 10k race earlier this month. The weather was ideal for this friendly local race which features a long climb back to the finish at Bere Alston School. First TAC home was David Harris, running strongly to finish in 19th place overall, with David Twine less than two minutes behind and finishing third in his MV55 category. Sixty-eight year old Andy Houghton was next home, finishing second in the 60+ category as there was no MV65 group. Andy gained the highest performance percentage out of all eight TAC athletes. Tony Shearer, also in the MV60 category was third in the that group. Eighteen year old Amy Anstee was running her first 10k race and put in a very fine performance to win her senior female age group and be fifth female to the finish. Jessica Williams, also a SF, was next home, followed by Kate Rogers and Helen Alcock, Kate running a steady race to win the FV55 trophy and also gain the highest female performance result of the day.
