SIX runners from Tavistock Athletic Club took part in the latest Run Exe 5k series on June 23.
The monthly 5km race series is held on the banks of the River Exe at Exwick Playing Fields in Exeter. The pancake flat, two lap course attracts runners from all over Devon looking for a competitive workout and hopefully fast times.
TAC Neil Barkell, who is in a rich vein of form at present, did not disappoint, coming fifth overall in a time of 16 minutes 20 seconds – a new personal best. Next home from Tavistock was Martin Exley-Deane in 17.58 and first in the veteran 55 category.
Alice Rogers, returning from studying at Bath University, ran a steady 19.12 to win a magnificent spot prize of a holiday.
Andy Houghton continued his category success by winning the vet 65 category in 21.39 at the age of 69.
Tracey Oxborough set a new pb of 22.21 while coming second, just seconds down on the women's vet 50 winner.
Kate Rogers brought the Tavy club runners home in 25.10.
