TAVISTOCK Athletic Club runners were among those who took part in last months' Peter Tavy Plod, a friendly local 5-mile race. Four of the TAC entrants were Junior members, and all ran excellent times.
U15 Jordan Channon was first club runner home, in fifth place overall in a blistering 29minutes 54seconds, with U17 James Best only seconds behind finishing 6th in 30.28. U15 girl Emily Attfield ran strongly, being first junior female to finish in 35.10, whil U13 Jasmine Gray was second junior female, in 36.45.
For the TAC senior contingent, Rebecca Mingo finished first female overall in 32.39, in ninth place. James Crisp was half a minute behind, winning his M40 category in 33.08, with Paul Waldron coming third in the same category in 35.48.
This was the second race of the day for Peter Bazley, who, along with local runner Adam Holland had competed in the challenging multi-terrain Lustleigh 10k that morning. Adam had won that race in 38.44, while Pete had finished third in his age category in 50.30. At Peter Tavy, Pete won his M55 age group in37.10.
New club member, Diane Thomas, a regular attender at the club's Tavy Joggers, had a tough race for a first outing, but Diane dug in and achieved her goal of finishing under the hour, in a very creditable 56.10.
The following weekend, five TAC's competed in the penultimate race of the club's Grand Prix series, the Treggy 7. More than 350 runners completed the race, to finish in the grounds of Launceston Castle.
Running his seventh consecutive Grand Prix event, Graham De Val was first club runner home, in 54.59. Kate Rogers was first club female to finish in 64.25, with Sheila Houghton behind her, coming third in her category in 64.51. Lesley Cowie has missed only one race of the series and she was next home in 71.46, with Sarah Dorrell competing as part of her half marathon training, finishing in 84.45.
