A NEW management structure kicks off next season at Langsford Park following great success on the pitch this year by Tavistock AFC.

With the first team capturing the South West Peninsula division one East title and securing an instant return to the premier league, while the second team won the East Cornwall league cup, it has been a great season for the Tavistock club.

However, with the first XI management team of Kevin Hendy and Darren Stewart taking over the reins at premier league side Plymouth Parkway, the club have decided to reward the efforts of the second team management team Stewart Cawte and Steve Cook, who along with Mark Blanks 'raised the bar' this season.

Club chairman Chris Fenner told the Times: 'In recognition of the hard work and success achieved by the reserve team management this season and a very well-rounded presentation to the executive committee, Tavistock AFC are pleased to announce that Stewart Cawte and Steve Cook will be taking on management duties for the newly-promoted South West Peninsula Premier League side.

'We also welcome a new face at the club this season in Stuart Henderson, who in his day job is head of youth recruitment at Torquay United. Stuart and Stewart are to become joint first team managers, whilst Steve Cook will take on a new role as "general manager".

'Whilst Stewart and Stuart will be running the firsts on a day-to-day basis, Steve will support them as well as becoming the liaison between the firsts and the reserves in addition to working alongside the committee on projects as diverse as youth development and commercial management.

'As a trio, with Stewart's knack for team building and man management, Stuart's expertise in spotting talent and coaching and Steve's long history of entrepreneurial success, scouting and his calm and considered professionalism, we are very confident of success next season on the field, but also of the continued resurgence of Tavistock Association Football Club behind the scenes and within the community.

'Having promoted the East Cornwall premier division management team, we are now in the process of recruiting managers for the reserves.  We hope to be able to announce the successful candidates within the next fortnight.'
