Tavistock Colts 21

Brixham Colts 0

Tavistock gained their first win of 2012 with a well deserved win at home against Brixham and thanks to great defending throughout.

The home side started well and applied pressure all over the park but the strength of the Brixham tight five kept them in the game with superb scrummaging.

However it was Tavistock who found themselves dominating due to athleticism right throughout the side.

Strong rucking from both sides kept the game physical with Tavistock earning a penalty which they kicked to the edge of the Brixham 22. A good lineout led to scrumhalf Glover making a break and good support led to secure ball for Bourton to to charge in for the first score. Cramoysan slotted the conversion to make it 7-0.

The second half started with Tavistock still dominating. When Brixham had possession on the edge of their 22 a sloppy pass led to the ball being dropped and Longden grubbered the ball past the flyhalf to score a well taken try. Cramoysan again converted for 14-0.

With 25 minutes still to go Brixham found another gear. Wave after wave of attack came but strong defence from Tavistock with superb scrambling tackles kept them out.

As the match progressed the fitness of Tavistock proved the better and they found themselves finally competing at the scrum. It was now the away sides turn to defend strongly.

However the next score was Tavistock's from a scrum Northmore picked down the blindside and although he was hauled down close to the line good recycling by the forwards enabled Glover to crash down for the third try. Again Cramoysan converted.
