TAVISTOCK Hire hoped to keep their title hopes alive and started the game well going with the wind.

The first half was a scrappy affair but Hire had the best chances with Will Pike and Mark Norman going close.

Playing against the wind in the second half Tavistock were undone in th 60th minute when a long ball was played over the top and the Stars' striker slotted home. Hire pushed for an equaliser but were caught out on the break when a Stars striker curled the ball past Shaun Moloney from 18 yards out. Hire scored a late consolation through a header from defender Rob Moloney but could not find the equaliser.
