THE Life Centre in Plymouth hosted the Devon County Sprint Gala and among those taking part were 14 members of Tavistock Swimming Club.

They competed in a 50m swim of each stroke over the day. Harry Thompson finished second overall in the boys 14 years age group, achieving first in the freestyle, second in the backstroke and butterfly and fourth in the breaststroke, with three personal bests.

Gavin Ball was seventh in the same age group and gained three pb times. Luke Stephens came fourth in the boys 12 years age group with three pbs and Sam Bates in the boys 10 years swam a personal best in each event.

For the girls, Chloe Marks came seventh in the 14 years with two pbs and Beth Thompson was ninth in the 11 years with two pbs. In the 10 years Emily Handel finished 29th and gained personal bests in all four events. In the 11 years, Laura Meredith was 15th (two pbs), Gemma Arundel 16th (four pbs) and Sarah Teague 19th (three pbs). In the 12 years, Jessamy Clemens finished 19th (one pb), Maddie Handel 20th (three pbs), Rosie Milburn 25th (four pbs) and Olivia Bates 31st (four pbs).
