IThas been a busy week for the coaches and young swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club with three events over seven days.

Last weekend saw 10 swimmers head to Plymouth Life Centre to compete against local clubs from Devon and Cornwall in the Two Counties Meet.  The swimmers achieved 31 top eight positions including 17 medals won (eight bronze, three silver and six gold).

Meanwhile, four swimmers travelled to Somerset to compete in the 50m pool at Millfield School to try to achieve Regional swimming times.  It was well worth the trip up with 13 top 10 positions including five medals (two bronze, one silver and two gold) along with regional times gained by Cara McVeigh and Charlotte Walker.

The week ended with a friendly junior gala at Tavistock Swimming Club’s home pool, Meadowlands. Swimmers from Devonport Royal were invited to Tavistock on Friday evening to take part in an extremely noisy but enjoyable team event.  This was an opportunity for many of the club’s newest and youngest members to experience a team gala for the first time.

TSC coach Nathaniel Rookes, who organised the event, said: ‘The support throughout each and every race and the atmosphere was fantastic all night.  Everyone should be proud of their efforts, they represented the club very well!  Thanks too to the young volunteers, officials, team managers and parents for helping to make this happen.’
