ROSIE Andrews from Tavistock has been crowned Southern Region Champion 2018 for cross country mountain biking.
The talented youngster competes in the under 16 female category and is focusing on racing at national level for the first time this year.
The Southern Championships took place at Crow Hill in the New Forest, a very fast, off road course in challenging conditions with temperatures reaching 24 degrees. Rosie’s hard work paid off by winning by seven minutes over second place. The Southern Mountain bike title compliments the Cyclocross Southern Championship that Rosie won in the winter of 2017/2018.
Rosie attends Tavistock College which has been very supportive with her busy racing calendar. She races for a Plymouth based club called Pilgrim Flyers and also trains with Tavistock Wheelers Youth Cycling club.
On July 22 Rosie will travel to Essex to compete in the national champion-ships, racing on the 2012 Olympic course and hoping to improve her results from previous national races and her challenge is to earn a place on the podium.
