South East two
Okehampton A 2
Isca D 4
WITH Okehampton firmly rooted to the bottom of the league they had to be at their best to compete against high flying Isca.
However, it was not long before the home side found themselves one down; but despite the early set back Okehampton continued to press. Scot Bending who normally plays in Oke's defence was pushed out to the wing and along with Stuart Javis kept an attacking edge to his sides' play.
Isca played on the counter attack and soon found themselves two and then three up. However, the Okehampton pressure paid off and Simon Bourne pounced on a loose ball in the D following a short corner and pulled one back for the home side.
A reshaped Oke midfield saw captain Brett Lawson in a more defensive roll but his attacking instinct was on hand when he turned the ball into the open goal ..... unfortunately into the wrong one! 4-1 to Isca half time.
At the restart Jack Watson came on to make his Okehampton A debut and it was not long before he was in the thick of it, taking on the Isca defence. Jacob Lloyd made some impressive runs from midfield but the away side continued to frustrate the youngster.
Isca counter attack and George Morgan pulled off a great save to deny them a fifth goal.
Shortly after Oke's Zac Middleton conceded a short corner but this was cleared off the line by Mark Bingham.
Chris Luxton won a short corner for Oke which Stuart Jarvis gratefully converted after great inter passing in the D.
Unfortunately both John and Stuart Jarvis had to leave the field due to injury.
This second half performance was encouraging and Okehampton were clearly causing the away side some problems.
