Tavistock Ladies FC 7

AFTER a week's break, Tavistock Ladies resumed their league campaign with a solid 7-1 away win to Barnstable.

Opting to shoot downhill first, Tavistock's fast paced front line were held firm by a solid Barnstable offside trap.

The break through came nearly halfway through the first half, when some good work on the right from Sarah Blowey led to Donna Weeks firing a shot against the post and Becky Turner followed up the rebound. Barnstable settled after the goal and capitalised on a pass through the defence to place the ball past goalkeeper Gemma Small.

The second half saw much more positive play from Tavistock and Robyn Hammond ran on to a through ball from Sarah Martin to rifle past the keeper. The third goal soon followed when a low shot from Turner crept through the goal keeper's hands.

A pin-point cross from Hammond was met by the head of Donna Hone for Tavistock's fourth, with Turner completing her hatrick with a cross from Donna Weeks on the left.

Sarah Blowey held her run through the defensive line, capitalising on an accurate through ball from Hammond.

Hammond herself completed the scoring with a precise long range looping shot which went in the top left corner.
