BODMIN A 3

TAVISGTOCK A 0

THIS turned out to be quite a match. Bodmin came out hard and fast, while Tavistock seemed half asleep.

The home team opened the score after six minutes, scored another five minutes later and a third seven minutes after that. It seemed all over bar the shouting when Tavistock began to stir.

Always at their best on the break, Tavistock suddenly broke into Bodmin’s half and a quick attack allowed Dee Kirwan a shot that missed by inches. A few minutes later a second attack came close and at half-time Bodmin had a 3-0 lead but no longer the initiative.

Although Bodmin played more consistently,  the second half belonged to a now confident Tavistock who launched numerous attacks. Dom Walker was unlucky, Will Russell kept a cool head in a one-on-one with the keeper and was only denied by good keeping. Even the halves were getting shots in.  Two balls passed in front of  Bodmin’s goal inches ahead of Tavistock sticks and to top it all Tavistock won two penalty flicks but the keeper saved both!

Tavistock simply could not get the ball across the Bodmin goal line. Had they managed even once the whole game might have changed.

What looked like being a heavy loss could have been turned into a win but the final touch just was not there for the visitors. Man of the match goes to Will Russell who was tireless and won almost every ball he challenged for.
