WEST Devon B shocked the Tavistock snooker fraternity by beating one of the league’s big beasts, West Devon A.

Heathman, normally a solid player for the A team, was stunned as he was unceremoniously beaten by a solid Horrell by a comfortable margin. Worse was to come for the A team as the B team had the audacity to go two up, with unbeaten Hoare keeping his nerve to beat Morris on the black in a well fought frame. Lawrence kept A team hopes alive as he overcame a spirited John Rich in another black ball frame.

The night belonged to the B team after the next frame when Hart chose just the right time to register his first league win of the season as he took another black ball to see off the tenacious Taylor.

The last frame was a non-event as Kevin Rich spared some A team blushes as he cruised past Roger Rich with breaks of 31 and 29 to show his team how it should be done.

Conservative A put pressure on leaders Conservative B with a hard-earned 3-2 victory. The A team skipper Carruthers was forced through injury and availability issues to pull Folley out of the cupboard and dust him off for his first league outing in over a year.

Folley did not disappoint as he made the most of some good early safety shots and at times good fortune to frustrate the positive approach from Dolan to take the frame with a late flurry of potting.

Bell was next on for the A team. Despite it being his birthday he had no luck against Evans who was in imperious form and dominated Bell from start to finish.

Next up, two unbeaten competitiors faced off in Carruthers and Ewings. It was Carruthers who remained unbeaten with an impressive showing.

There was more pressure on the B team as Babb took the early initiative and opened up a healthy lead on Mart McKechnie. Babb did not have it all his own way as McKechnie shook off some poor form to claw the game back to a black ball having needed 23 of the last 25 points. His efforts were in van as Babb kept his composure to coolly slot in the black to win.

With the game now won for the A team, Lacey was dragged into the mire of a tactical safety battle by a resolute Monk. With neither player able to pull away the game went down to the wire, with Lacey losing by default going in off the final black ball.
