PUPILS at Kelly Prep are celebrating success with a string of victories at the recent Devon county chess qualifying competition.

The team comprising of Lois Thornton, Jack Bellamy, Samuel Gray, James Lloyd and Toby Bower finished in a commendable second place.

The team also performed extremely well in the individual events, with Lois Thornton winning the girls' individual under 11s title and Jack Bellamy finishing equal third in the boys' individual under 11 titles.

Christopher Wrey competing in the boys' individual U9s competition also performed exceptionally well.

As a result of the Kelly team's excellent performance, several players, have been selected to represent Devon at county level.

Congratulations go to Lois Thornton, Jack Bellamy, Samuel Gray and James Lloyd, who will compete in inter-county competitions from January.
